Where Dreams and Tradition Come Together

Story

In February 2024, a groundbreaking folk performance show enthralled an audience of about 600 at the Minamiza Theater. This year, the performance is coming back with even more power than ever, a fresh theme, and a new venue!
This year’s theme is “Dreams.” Have you ever truly thought about why folk performing arts have been passed down for thousands of years, transcending history and generations?
Built around the “Five Dreams” of the contributing ensembles and enhanced with contemporary staging, this innovative folk performance will come to life right before your eyes.
When the “Five Dreams” come together, what will the final vision reveal?

Actor & “Visit Kyoto” AmbassadorKuranosuke Sasaki
Kuranosuke Sasaki, a Kyoto-born actor, has played diverse roles in domestic and international films and dramas. Alongside his acting career, he takes an active role in showcasing Kyoto’s rich traditions and captivating charm to audiences around the world. His career highlights include winning the Japan Academy Film Prize in the Best Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories. In 2022, he received the Kyoto Prefecture Culture Award for Distinguished Service. Kuranosuke Sasaki’s official fan site,  “TRANSIT”.
